Invasive Species Removal and Nature Walk at Orange Twin

Join Oconee River Land Trust (ORLT) for an herbicide free invasive species removal and nature hike at the 100-acre, permanently protected Orange Twin conservation easement. This event will take place on Saturday, February 17th from 1:00-3:00 PM.

The Orange Twin property, located about five miles north of downtown Athens, has many fern glades and native woodland wildflower species. We will be working to remove exotic privet from these habitats so that the native species can thrive. Then, we’ll hike for about an hour through a mesic hardwood forest full of diverse native species including mountain laurel and mature beech trees down to Noketchee Creek, a clear-flowing stream that feeds Sandy Creek and the North Oconee River.
