A Fond Farewell to ORLT Board Member Kathy Parker

Al and Kathy Parker on their conservation easement in Athens-Clarke County.

If you have joined us on an ORLT member's hike, chances are that you have met our (now former) board member Dr. Kathy Parker and her husband Al. And, if you read ORLT's newsletter you have undoubtedly seen Kathy's beautiful photography and perhaps read her noteworthy article "Conservation Easements: A Lifeline for Birds" a couple years back.

Kathy has been a fixture on ORLT's Board of Directors since 2016. She will be dearly missed for her thoughtful contributions, her unique knowledge and insights (Kathy was a professor in physical geography at UGA for 30 years), and her assistance in the field where she helped monitor protected properties.

As a talented birder and wildlife photographer, ORLT is lucky to have benefited from Kathy's abilities to document unique species found on conservation easements and capture amazing images of wildlife, a few of which are shared here.

As Kathy and Al pack up and get ready to head west to their new home, we thank them for their many contributions to ORLT and the Athens community. We wish them well and happy trails on their next adventure!
