Jason Thrasher's Secret River

In late 2024, as part of our Riverview Foundation assisted Middle Oconee Conservation Corridor (MOCC) initiative to protect land between Atlanta Highway and Old Macon Highway, ORLT commissioned local photographer extraordinaire Jason Thrasher (author of Murmur Trestle) to capture the river and its habitat in all its glory over a full year. 

Over the course of 2025, through the four seasons, Jason has photographed that vital stretch of Athens' "secret river" and captured its biodiversity and beauty in snow and sunshine. He'll be presenting his favorite selections in a slideshow event with ORLT in the Fall of 2026, is potentially working on a book/zine around his work on the MOCC, and plans on exhibiting the photos sometime in 2027. We'll keep you posted as we embark on the second year of working to protect this critical area in danger of development!
